Frequently Asked Questions

Clear, transparent answers to help you make an informed decision for your musical journey.

What is the difference between Trinity Grade 1 and Grade 2?

Grade 2 requires two-octave scales (instead of one), compound rhythms (6/8 time), more complex polyphony between both hands, and subtler dynamic shading.

Can a student skip Grade 1 and take Grade 2 directly?

Yes! Trinity does not require prerequisite exams. If a student demonstrates appropriate technical readiness, we can register them directly for Grade 2.

How many pieces must be performed in Grade 2?

Three pieces are required, chosen from different stylistic groups in the Trinity syllabus, demonstrating classical, romantic, and modern repertoire.
